The elder is the data principal
The person receiving care — not their family, and not Purposient Labs — is the owner of their own data. Family members who help manage the account do so as nominated stewards, exercising rights on the elder's behalf where needed, not as owners of that data themselves.
Two tiers of data
Personal vault: biographies, specific stories, voice recordings, named individuals, and behavioral or health data. Private by default. Never used to train shared models or shown to other users without explicit, specific consent.
Knowledge commons: generalized traditions, recipes and practices that a family chooses — deliberately, story by story — to contribute so future generations and other families can learn from them. Nothing moves from the personal vault to the commons automatically.
What we collect
- Ambient behavioral signals from connected devices (motion, routine patterns, speech content relevant to wellbeing — not raw recordings retained beyond on-device processing)
- Voice check-in responses (Purpose Pulse)
- Stories, memories and family content explicitly shared through the Living Library
- Account and contact information for the elder and their nominated family stewards
On-device processing
Raw audio and video are processed locally by the Edge-AI layer and are not retained or transmitted in raw form. Only anonymized, purpose-relevant signals leave the home.
Your rights
Consistent with DPDPA and comparable frameworks, data principals (or their nominated representative) can request access to, correction of, or erasure of personal data, and can withdraw consent for any specific use at any time.
